There has been a tendency within Christianity to strip away the Jewish identity of Jesus and turn him into just a generic human. But once we do that, Israel and the Jewish people are no longer necessary to God’s redemptive plan. Jesus can easily be reshaped into whatever kind of Jesus a particular culture or ideology wants, such as the Palestinian Jesus of Liberation theology.

At our recent Feast of Tabernacles, Israeli Bible teacher Peter Tsukahira made clear that Jesus had a specific human identity as a Jew, and even the resurrected Jesus now enthroned in heaven still retains that Jewish identity as the “Lion of the Tribe of Judah” and “Root and Offspring of David.” Learn why this is so important to understand in this Feast teaching on: “The Jewish Identity of Jesus”
