Word from Jerusalem Jan/Feb 2023

January/February 2023 edition

This is the year that modern-day Israel turns seventy-five!

In our informative Bible teaching ‘The Heir of the Whole World’, ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler looks back to where the story of the Jewish people began, with the Hebrew patriarch Abraham. He provides amazing facts about Abraham and his calling, which encompasses: the promise of a land, of becoming a great nation, of receiving blessing and prominence, and of being a blessing to the entire world! “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3) May you be blessed by this insightful teaching.

In November last year, Israelis once again headed to the polls to elect Knesset members and a new government was formed in late December. ICEJ Vice President & Senior Spokesman David Parsons explains the situation that the new Israeli government currently faces. This includes a “Constitutional Crisis over Judicial Reforms”, resulting from the new government’s proposed series of laws to rein in the Israeli courts. Also, read more on how the Abraham Accords between Israel and some Middle East nations are progressing, as other “legacy-sealing” deals are being sought.

As you read through our Aid and Aliyah pages, be encouraged by seeing how your support has impacted the people of Israel! You will see the many ways in which the ICEJ has brought comfort and assistance to thousands of Israelis during the past year, and this year will be no different!

Through your generous support, we will continue to give a ‘Future and a Hope’ to those in need in every sector of Israeli society, stand firm with Israelis in crisis, provide support to Jewish immigrants in all aspects of their journey home as another bumper year in Aliyah is expected, and continue caring deeply for the precious Holocaust survivors living in our special Haifa Home for Holocaust survivors.

Thank you for partnering with us in our efforts to bless and comfort the people of Israel.
Happy reading and blessings from Jerusalem!
