Dr. Mojmir Kallus, ICEJ Vice President for International Affairs, paid a ministry visit to Georgia in June, together with violinist and ICEJ regional coordinator Serguei Popov. Dr. Kallus preached at the Assembly of God church headed by Bishop Oleg Khubashvili, the ICEJ-Georgia National Director, a seasoned minister who enjoys a high reputation among the local churches. 

On Saturday, Mojmir also spoke to several hundred people at a youth meeting. They listened intently to the teaching about the importance of Israel as a nation that God chose to implement His salvation plan for the world. On Sunday, Mojmir preached at the main service, which was attended by hundreds of Georgian believers. He also encouraged them to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, according to Psalm 122.  

The church has a good understanding and love for Israel. Hebrew dances were performed at the main service, and anyone visiting the premises is reminded of the Hebrew heritage just by looking at a large plaque with the Ten Commandments written in Hebrew behind the podium.  

Historically, Georgia is known for peaceful coexistence with Jews for over 2,600 years and for low levels of antisemitism even until today. Many Israelis travel there for vacation and are warmly received by the local population.
