Since our Feast pilgrims ascended to Jerusalem on Monday evening, they have been tremendously blessed by this year’s celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. The 1,500 attendees from some 70 nations have enjoyed inspiring Feast speakers and dynamic worship sessions, and shared Communion together in the Garden Tomb. But the highlights for many came at the Israeli Guest Night on Wednesday evening and the popular Jerusalem March on Thursday.

Our traditional Israeli Guest Night was combined once again this year with the colourful “Roll Call of the Nations”, as national flags of each country represented at the Feast were paraded across the stage. The evening then featured addresses by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Fijian Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka. The Christian Embassy also honoured the seven nations that have opened an embassy in Jerusalem, with Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel and diplomatic representatives from all seven countries present for the special awards ceremony, including the United States of America, Guatemala, Paraguay, Kosovo, Honduras, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

At the very first Feast of Tabernacles in 1980, the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem was founded on the principle of Christian recognition and respect for the status of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital due to the Jewish people’s 3,000 year-old biblical claim and connection to this city. We have worked for these many decades since to encourage the nations to return their embassies to Jerusalem, and are grateful this has begun to happen in recent times.

On Wednesday evening, the ICEJ also presented its prestigious Nehemiah Award to Rev. Malcolm Hedding, our former Executive Director from 2000 to 2011, for his lifetime of achievements in building Christian support for Israel and the Jewish people. The festivities also included the launch of “Aliyapp”, a new online tool developed by The Jewish Agency for Israel in exclusive partnership with the Christian Embassy, which will be the focal point going forward of JAFI’s efforts to encourage and process new Jewish immigrants to Israel.

On Thursday, the Christian delegates eagerly gathered at Sacher Park, many with national flags and costumes, ready to begin the Jerusalem March. The pilgrims were able to engage with thousands of Israeli families enjoying Succot holiday activities in the spacious park in the center of Jerusalem. The Jerusalem March then concluded with a special time of prayer in the beautiful Rose Garden overlooking the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.

Afterwards, it was time to celebrate with the next generation that evening with two very special Israeli guests, worship leader Shilo Ben Hod and Mati Shoshani of TBN’s new show “Boots on the Ground”. The evening also was filled with celebratory worship by SOLU Israel, NORTHWORSHIP (Norway), Ana Paula Valadão (Brazil), and Raise the Banner Dance Team (Philippines).

On Friday, our Feast will conclude with a morning Prayer Vigil for Israel and the nations, and then a Healing Service in the evening led by Rev. Aykhan Mahmudov, a powerful evangelist from Azerbaijan.
