Hag Purim Sameach!

During the festival of Purim, we remember the powerful story told in the Book of Esther.

During King Ahasuerus’ reign in ancient Persia, his adviser Haman plotted the destruction of the Jewish people. But, through faith, prayer, fasting and courage, this evil plan was overturned and the Jewish people emerged victorious!

At Purim, Jewish children delight in dressing up as the heroic figures of Mordechai or Esther, while the scroll of Esther is read in synagogues. With the current war raging in Israel and restrictions in place for public gatherings, many in the Jewish community are still finding a way to celebrate Purim – even in public bomb shelters.

During these challenging days, may we be encouraged that God preserves His covenant people and is moved by the prayers of the saints. As Christians, we can stand firm in the knowledge that God is a strong deliverer in difficult times.

The ICEJ extends warm wishes for a blessed Purim to everyone this year.
