Jerusalem Summit to address Antisemitism, Replacement theology

This week, the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem will host the Jerusalem Summit, an emergency gathering to address the global rise in antisemitism since October 7 and the deafening silence of so many Church leaders in response.

With contributions from leading theologians and scholars, the three-day conference (9-11 June) also will focus on new forms of Replacement theology that deny Israel’s enduring election, and the need to restore to the Church an appreciation for the Jewishness of Jesus and the Hebraic Roots of Christianity, which were omitted from the Nicene Creed compiled 1700 years ago.

Over 200 Christian theologians, pastors and ministry leaders from more than 30 nations will take part in the gathering.

“We are living in a decisive moment for the Church, as antisemitism is surging at an alarming rate worldwide following the October 7 terror invasion, and too many Christian leaders are responding with silence,” said ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler. “At the same time, Israel is increasingly delegitimised – not only politically, but also in theological discourse even within Evangelical circles. For this reason, we are convening the Jerusalem Summit to help equip Christian leaders to counter modern antisemitism, to restore biblical clarity on Israel, and to strengthen the Church’s witness in a time of moral confusion.”

On the final day of the Jerusalem Summit, the ICEJ will release the “Jerusalem Affirmation of the Nicene Faith”, a contemporary statement of Christian belief and commitment developed by respected theologians and church leaders under the auspices of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Affirmation will uphold the Nicene Creed as a unifying declaration of Christian faith surrounding the divinity of Jesus, while also addressing the Council of Nicaea’s key omissions concerning the humanity of Jesus as a Jew, which were essential to establishing his credentials as the promised Messiah. The Affirmation also will aim to restore the Church’s appreciation for the uniquely central role of Israel, the Patriarchs and the Hebrew Scriptures in birthing and nourishing the Christian faith from its inception.
