MICROFINANCING WITH REFUGEES
(Microfy is a project in conjunction with the ICEJ for Sudanese refugees in Israel)

What is ‘microfy’?

Economic independence is one of the main elements in the process of social and psychological rehabilitation of refugees into Israel. ‘Microfy’'s goal is to provide them with the tools they need in order to improve their integration into life in Israel and to facilitate their entrance into the economy, through the creation of small enterprises.‘Microfy’ enables these women to support their families by selling their crafts, and mentors them in their integration process in Israel. It provides a support group for these women as well as child care, so that they are enabled to improve their situation leading from strength, rather than continuing to feel like victims.

‘Microfry’ is a microfinance project which provides of small loans with which people start their own small businesses. It has proven to be an effective and sustainable tool in poverty reduction. Its implementation has altered the standard of living for many across approximately 22 countries in Asia, Africa, America and the Middle East.

How will it work?

Within each community, we organize small groups of 4 or 5 people, which will be divided according to:

-Geographic location and abilities

-Availability to meet at least once a week

‘Microfy’s’ projects aim to give refugee communities all the tools they need in order to develop their own initiatives and be in full control of them.

What makes Microfinance effective?
